Top 5 Carpooling and Ridesharing Apps in Africa Q3 2022 Performance

In the third quarter of 2022, carpooling and ridesharing apps in Africa demonstrated various trends in weekly downloads and active users. Here, we analyze the performance of the top 5 apps: inDrive. Save on city rides, Bolt: Request a Ride, Uber - Request a ride, Yango: taxi, food, delivery, and DiDi Rider: Affordable rides.

inDrive. Save on city rides saw a consistent increase in weekly downloads, starting from approximately 168K at the end of June and peaking at around 202K in the last week of September. Weekly active users also exhibited a steady growth, climbing from about 1.08M to over 1.21M by the end of the quarter.

Bolt: Request a Ride experienced fluctuations in weekly downloads, with numbers oscillating between 150K and 180K. Active users showed a generally upward trend, increasing from approximately 2.35M in late June to nearly 2.39M by the end of September.

Uber - Request a ride maintained a strong presence with weekly downloads ranging from 104K to 136K. Active users saw a slight decline overall, beginning the quarter at around 3.22M and fluctuating before ending at approximately 3.12M.

Yango: taxi, food, delivery had notable growth in weekly downloads, peaking at 137K in mid-July before settling around 88K by the end of September. Active users demonstrated a steady increase, rising from about 139K to over 218K throughout the quarter.

DiDi Rider: Affordable rides showed a downward trend in weekly downloads, starting at 110K and dropping to around 69K by the quarter's close. Active users followed a similar pattern, decreasing from approximately 329K to 316K.
